VTI has named Joshua Soper as Director of Operations. Josh was formerly Production Manager with responsibility for coating services. With this promotion, he assumes additional operating responsibility for VTI’s capital equipment product line. Josh has extensive prior manufacturing management experience. He is a West Point graduate, former Major in the US Army, and Apache helicopter combat pilot.

Following along with the success and excitement generated at AIX - the Automotive Interiors Expo – in Stuttgart in June 2017, VTI is pleased to support the first annual exhibition at AIX US, to be held October 24 to 26 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan.

Vergason Technology, Inc. was recently awarded certification to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard. ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards that provides a quality management system standard to help organizations improve overall performance and provide a sound basis for sustainable development initiatives. The quality management principles encompassed in the certification include customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach, improvement, evidence-based decision making, and relationship management.

The certification process required several months of preparation, by Dan Van Allen Quality Coordinator, and his team, involving each of the principles. In preparing for the audit, the team worked with an outside consultant, who provided guidance for meeting the new standard. The focus of the 2015 standard is heavily weighted on risk assessment. The team looked at key internal and external stakeholders and identified risks that the company faces and how they can be either eliminated, minimized or addressed. The goal is to identify how the problem can be prevented as opposed to using corrective action after a problem has occurred. The new standard also emphasizes management involvement and management driven standards to address risks and opportunities.

Mark Fitch, President, recalls when VTI first achieved ISO 9001 certification in 2005. “Our customer base is quite diverse, and maintaining our registration provides a common quality standard that is recognized by all our customers…whether they are in automotive, medical, defense, electronics, or consumer products. The most recent 2015 standard focusses less on operating procedures and more on business strategy and risk mitigation. In many ways, the new standard brings more value to the corporation than the old one.”
